NOGAM is the new company belonging to the family group Ortigão Costa, with a history of over 60 years in the crop business.
Considering its model of vertical integration on the walnuts business, encompassing every stage in the value chain – plant production, field crops, industrial processing and marketing – NOGAM holds responsibility about the industrial processing and the marketing of walnuts and almonds, being these produced in the company and by other farmers.

The Group aims to produce in a sustainable way, grounded on good agricultural practices, favouring biodiversity by means of specific actions and complying with international certification standards, such as Global Gap, BRC and IFS. The working conditions and the involvement in the local community are of prime concern in this innovative project. Energy efficiency and solar energy are devised for NOGAM's facilities concerning the walnuts processing, expected to be in full power when the harvest of 2020 comes to be managed.
Traceability is an essential issue in the company, and specific processes and software have been developed for this matter, from the beginning of the development of the production unit, being these in the nursery or in the various production units ongoing to the processing stage, which allows our customers to keep the track record for any batch of product.

NOGAM, making use of its partnership with FRUNUT – a Chilean company dedicated to walnut production and exportation – is able to deliver two annual harvests, ensuring fresh walnuts throughout the year. This initiative, derived from companies with similar business models and unified technical management, enables a homogeneous and superior quality product.
